Diving
THE unique thing about Bali is that dive sites in Bali are very accessible. The dive sites offer you a great variety in marine life and a very good visibility in water of a nice temperature. Bali is also very equipped for divers, so no need to bring your own equipment! If you are dive the reefs and wrecks of Bali, advised to those who have not tried either of these sports. Being compared to other countries, Bali is measured cheaper.
Diving are one of main attractions of Bali. The underwater environment of Bali is truly comparable with the well known dive sites in the world, such as Maldives, Red Sea, Great Barrier Reef, Hawaii, Palau, and Carribean. The sites are located from the east to the west side of the island, make it possible to dive year round, with minimum effect of seasonal changes.
In spite of the obvious opportunities, Indonesia's diving industry is still relatively young, though the number of companies offering courses and excursions is rising rapidly. Bali's tourist stronghold in the Kuta, Nusa Dua and Sanur offers easy and moderate diving, with easily accessible reefs. Tours to more remote (and less busy) areas are available.
Most hotels have desks where arrangements for diving trips can be made. Alternatively, guests can themselves contact dive tour providers. There are a number of dive centres in Bali, which arrange trips all over the isle. During the rainy season, diving may not be at its best as storms are capable of reducing visibility. Bali's great dive spots are around Tulamben, Amed, Candidasa, Nusa Penida, Menjangan Island, Gilimanuk, Sanur, Nusa Dua, Nusa Penida, and Lovina. Most dive sites are very accessible, either right from the beach or by short ride with a boat.
